SESSION GUIDE- AT HOME

WHAT IS IN THIS GUIDE…

This guide is here to help you feel prepared for our session, so that the day of the session you feel relaxed and comfortable.

You’ll find some simple tips on what to wear, how to get your home ready, how to prepare your little one, and what to expect on the day.

I hope you find it helpful!

And remember, if you have any questions, I’m always just an email or phone call away.

WHAT SHOULD YOU WEAR

Firstly, make sure you look like you.

I’m here to capture who you are right now.

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable in what you're wearing.

AVOID

  • anything you’ll need to fuss with or constantly adjust during the session.

  • clothes with words, slogans, or logos —they can be distracting.

  • Smart watches - Just take them off before the shoot

Remember, these images are timeless, so choose outfits that you’ll love looking back on for years to come.

TRY

  • Solid colours, simple patterns, and earthy tones photograph beautifully

  • Textures and layers add warmth, depth, and movement to your images, so feel free to play with those.

  • Remember, Coordinating your colours and styles is great, but there’s no need to be too matchy-matchy—everyone doesn’t have to wear the same colour!

There's absolutely no need for the house to be spotless for my arrival (trust me, mine isn't!), but decluttering some key, well-lit areas can make a big difference.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HOME

LIGHT IS KEY

We need a bright room with soft, indirect sunlight:

  • A room with a full-length window works best.

  • Pull up all the blinds and open shutters to let in as much natural light as possible.

  • I’ll bring sheer curtains to diffuse the light if needed—no worries if you don’t have curtains.

In the master bedroom (which often has the best light):

  • Use a neutral, light-coloured doona on the bed.

  • Clear bedside tables of any clutter.

  • Fresh flowers can add a lovely touch in the background.

Top Tip: To keep your little one cosy and sleepy, crank up the heat! If you're not a little warm yourself, it might not be warm enough for the baby.

As a mum of two,I totally understand that babies often do the complete opposite of what you need them to do! So, before you dive into this, please don’t stress!

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR BABY

KEEP YOUR BABY AWAKE 60-90 MINUTES BEFORE THE SESSION

About 30 minutes before we start:

  • Change their nappy.

  • Strip them down to just a nappy and wrap them in blankets to keep warm (unless you have a special outfit in mind).

  • Let me know if you’d like to use one of the outfits I have available!

Give them a feed (even if it’s just a top-up to help them settle).

After feeding, burp them thoroughly and keep them upright.

If they fall asleep, that’s perfectly fine!

Remember, newborns are unpredictable, and I don’t expect them to follow any schedule. We’ll go at their pace, and I’ll stay until we’ve captured all the beautiful moments we need

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY…

AT HOME SESSION ARE SCHEDULED FOR THE MORNING AT

9:30AM

I’ll arrive with everything we need—my beanbag, blankets, a few outfits, and of course, my camera!

When I arrive

  • I’ll check out the best spot to shoot.

  • I’ll take the baby from you so you can have a few moments to get ready.

  • If you’ve chosen an outfit I’ve brought for the baby, I’ll dress the baby and get them ready.

We’ll start the session and go with the flow, following the baby’s cues to keep things relaxed and natural.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

Within 14 days of our session, you’ll receive an email with a link to your online gallery.

From there, you can browse through and select your favourite images based on the package you’ve chosen. Once you’ve made your selection, you'll be able to download them directly.
